Have you got a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) — and is it updated?
A BCP is the plan for how your business keeps running in events such as natural disasters or cyber-attacks. It’s designed to protect your people and assets, and make sure the business can function again quickly when disaster strikes.
What a good BCP covers
- Which systems and data the business can’t operate without
- Who does what when something goes wrong — including after hours
- How you communicate with staff, customers and suppliers when systems are down
- Where your backups are, and how long a restore actually takes (tested, not assumed)
- Alternative ways of working — different site, different devices, different connectivity
Keep it alive
For a BCP to remain relevant, it needs to be reviewed at least annually and whenever the business changes — new premises, new systems, new key people.
If your BCP is a document nobody has opened since it was written — or doesn’t exist yet — we can help you build one that works.
